In giving to the public this third volume of the Transactions of "The Literary and Historical Society of Quebec," a very few words only are necessary to be said respecting the subjects of which it treats. Like the preceding volumes, it is chiefly confined to details of the Natural History of the country, and a few subjects of general literature: but the Society has not overlooked the principal object for which it was established, and from which it derives its name. A manuscript containing interesting details of the history of the province, between the years 1740 and 1760, has been committed to the press, and will speedily appear in a separate volume.
